Army Weight Control
Obesity has become an epidemic across the United States and other countries. To remedy this, there has been an influx of different weight loss programs in the industry aiming to help individuals suffering from obesity or being overweight. In the military service, being overweight is a big no-no, protein supplements are needed!
A little extra fat can not be tolerated and soldiers do have to be very careful at all times with their body. As what they say, a fit army is a combat-ready army. In order to keep soldiers fit army weight control has been formulated and especially designed for dealing with overweight and too much body fat.
Why do you go through an army program for weight control?
The main reason why the program started was to make sure that soldiers and military personnel in general will be responsible and control their wieght properly, especially if protein supplements are needed. This is very important so they would be able to meet physical demands, which are required of them especially when under duties of combat conditions. The secondary objective is all for appearance. Such a program has a direct aim of making the soldier look as good as possible and basically looking like a soldier.
The program also aimed to sanction problems and always make sure that people will not be faced with the possibility of not being promoted or not receiving some authorizations.
How does an army qualify for the program? Do they Receive top protein supplements?
As soon as the soldier is found guilty of such body condition, he is automatically made a candidate to undergo with the program. We basically have two main ways in which we can determine if one soldier is a good candidate or not. All soldiers are measured in terms of their weight and height using a standard screening table weight. If the weight of a certain soldier exceeds body fat standard, he is going to be given notification or recommendation letter stating the need to undergo army weight program to correct the problem.
Unlike civilian citizens, an army is considered overweight already when his percent body fat reaches more than what is stated in the standard screening table weight. In any case, a commander can basically decide that a soldier needs to go through such a program wheneve rhe feels fit.
There are different reasons why we see the service being strict in the implementation of such a program. There is no sense in saying it as we all know but soldiers do have to look strong and be ready for a combat in every single second while they are in the army. Therefore, the concern with which arising from excess body fat is strongly advocated is to primarily avoid the representation of lack of personal discipline, lack of proper military appearance, and poor physical fitness, stamina, and state of health.
An army candidate for weight control program starts undergoing the training the day he has been informed by his unit commander or the day when he has been enrolled. During the program, an army is expected to be measured monthly to track his body fat changes. The circumference sites to be measured include neck and abdomen for male soldiers, and neck, wrist, largest part of the buttock, and forearm for female soldiers. By using material that can not be stretched we will notice a tape test being done.
