Frequently Asked Questions...
Does the Army issue you a cross or can you take your own?
I'm joining the army, leaving for OSUT in August, and I was wondering if can wear my own cross or if the Army issues me one.
I probably wouldn't bring mine to OSUT with me. But I've heard that there are Army issued crosses AND I've heard of people wearing their own or one that was given to them while over seas.
So do the issue one and if so is it mandatory that you wear that one?
Answer:
You aren't "issued" one. You are allowed to wear one. The Chaplain will have some available if you CHOOSE. It is not mandatory. Any paratrooper, Catholic or not, will be wearing his St. Michael medal.
