Frequently Asked Questions...
How do I get someone deceased authorized for a medal?
My great-grandfather served in the Army World War II. After the war was over he was on occupation duty in Germany but never received the Army of Occupation Medal. He died in 1998, but I have his records. How do I go about getting the medal awarded to him posthumously?
Answer:
My brother used to be head of Veterans Affairs. I have forwarded this question to him. He really knows his stuff. Email me at righteousbrother77@yahoo.com so I can get you an answer in the next day or so. This is right up my brother's alley.
Here is my brother's reply:
Have him go to http://www.archives.gov/st-louis/military-personnel/
Scroll down on left side to "Request Military Service Records", click on it. Scroll all the way to the bottom and click on "Replace Veterans' Medals". Clicdk on it and follow the instructions.
